UKRI CDTs in Artificial Intelligence - UK Research and Innovation

#artificialintelligence

Sixteen Centres for Doctoral Training (CDTs) in Artificial Intelligence (AI) are being supported by UKRI which will train 1,000 PhD students to exploit the potential of AI to transform the way we work and live. This next generation of research and business leaders will be trained at 14 universities, with the CDTs focusing on research areas ranging from healthcare and climate change to ethics and music. Three hundred partners, including AstraZeneca, Google, Rolls-Royce and NHS trusts, are involved in the CDTs. Project partners are investing £78 million in cash or in-kind contributions and partner universities are committing a further £23 million, resulting in an overall investment of more than £200 million. The investment will sustain a pipeline of talent and ensure that the UK remains at the forefront of emerging technologies, supporting the commitment in the government's AI Sector Deal.
